FAQ

About Classes

1. What do I bring to a class?   - Ideally nothing! We have lots of available tools and equipment in the studio. Unless you already have some tools that you want to work with, in that case bring those!

2. What should I wear to a class? - Comfy clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. Rings will likely get clay in them during the hand building classes and during wheel classes rings and long necklaces are a no go. Long nails can be worked around but it can be difficult, they have a tendency to break off and/or get clay in them while also leaving gouges in the clay.

3. What happens during a hand building class? - When class starts the teacher will pass out the clay and do a demonstration of how to handle the clay and turn it into whatever is the focus of the class. After that you'll have the rest of the 2 hours to make what you want. The teacher will be there to help answer questions and give advice. When your done, your piece will be left at the studio to dry completely (depending on the size and thickness, this can take about a week).

4. What happens to my piece after the class? - Once your piece has completely dried, it will get fired in our kiln (this is called a bisque fire). After that you're able to come back in and glaze it however you want. It's left at the studio to get fired once more and its ready for you to take home! If you do not want to glaze your piece, let us know and we will glaze it for you. Glaze fee is $20. Pottery is a long, humbling and rewarding process. We appreciate everyone's patience and getting to show this craft to you!

5. What about wheel classes? - We currently have two wheels available! No matter your skill level, you can sign up for the wheel classes we have scheduled, or contact us to schedule one for you. Learning pottery of any kind is a process that requires lots of practice. This is especially true for wheel throwing! We recommend being in the studio weekly to keep an eye on the state of your pots and to build up the mental and physical muscles to get better. If you already know how to throw and you don't want a teacher, pay for the clay you want and claim one of the wheels! If this is you, check out our memberships!

6. How long do classes last? - All hand building classes are 2 hours and wheel classes are 3 hours.

7. What if I don't have my piece back? -  We will contact you once your piece is ready to glaze and when your piece is ready to pick up. If you haven't heard from us at all and its been at least 2 weeks, please reach out using the contact section, email, text, or message us on IG or Facebook.
